Food inspectors shut down Bagotville Chinese restaurant

January 12, 2020

first_img…find cooking station laden with flies, rodentsUnsanitary food preparation and handling have resulted in the closure of a Chinese restaurant at Bagotville, West Bank Demerara, after food inspectors conducted an examination of the facility.Guyana Times understands that the restaurant was visited by inspectors last week, where alarming discoveries were unearthed. Ingredients and cooked items were stored improperly and the preparation was deemed unfit for consumption. The cooking station was also laden with flies and rodents. While only one establishment was ordered to close their operations, other facilities were visited and almost similar conditions were found. Businesses on the West Bank and West Coast of Demerara were given impromptu visits and were asked to improve some operating conditions so as to continue selling cooked food items to the public. In one instance, expired beverages were being marketed to customers.Just a few weeks ago, a prominent food establishment on Sheriff Street, Georgetown, was forced to close its operations until hygienic standards were met.In April, Director of the Government Analyst Food and Drug Department (GA-FDD) Marlan Cole explained that restaurants have come under scrutiny for the quality of foods they prepare and sell to locals. As such, a survey was conducted in the capital city.Although the survey was only conducted on restaurants in Georgetown, he assured that annual inspections would be conducted on all restaurants across the country by the GA-FDD’s health officers in all 10 administrative regions. Moreover, those officers will also begin investigating if a complaint is made against a food establishment.“The public health officers in the regions would do the inspections at the Chinese restaurants and I believe it’s annual inspections and for the city, it would be done by the City Public Health Department…if there is a complaint, an investigation can be launched,” Cole stated.According to him, the survey focused on the environmental conditions of the restaurant inclusive of the air and water quality, the sanitation of the restaurants’ surfaces and utensils and more importantly, sanitation of the hands of the workers.last_img read more

Don’t forget to bring proper headwear. – Head Case (GC2TD8M) – Geocache of the Week

Sometimes, like in the case of this week’s Geocache of the Week, the hat geocachers wear is actually the geocache itself. To earn your smiley for Head Case (GC2TD8M), located near Denver, Colorado, USA, you’ll have to make sure your head is in the game.Geocacher 2muchsoccer33-5 tests the Head Case for any signs of mutation. The hunt for this difficulty 2, terrain 1.5 geocache starts with a clever story told by the geocache creator Ecylram. The Head Case began as a micro container. However, due to mysterious circumstances and nearby military testing, the original container mutated into what it is now. Geocachers are tasked with ensuring that the Head Case remains locked in its container, making sure that no further mutation has occurred and signing the correct log (which is easier said than done). When asked about what inspired this geocache, Ecylram said, “I wanted to place a geocache that offered an interactive experience for the geocacher that was unique. I took the “find the log” idea and twisted it by having a log for each day of the month. The cacher is required to sign the log that corresponds to the find date.” He went on to add, “I then wanted to add humor to the find so I decided to attach the log containers to a wearable hard hat.  I then built a large wooden container to protect the hard hat from the elements and to provide a place for swag and trackables. I then started work on writing a story for the cache description that tied together the unique cache and the location. Once I decided to go with a mutant cache theme the story wrote itself.”Found the correct log and no new mutations to report! Photo by geocacher Grandma Nan.Since the geocache was placed, over 200 geocachers have earned their smileys and awarded the geocache over 140 Favorite Points. However, the best part is looking through all of the amazing photos posted in the Found It logs. Geocacher Chihuahuahs-3 (C3) wrote, “We were in the area today checking on one of our nearby caches and decided to stop by this one to show our grandchildren what a cool cache this is. The two of them had a ball getting in to the cache then finding the log!!! Our grandson was the lucky winner. He also could not resist putting it on his head! Does it tingle!?!?!? Thanks so very much for adding a very special element to our wonderful Easter weekend with our grandchildren”And the geocache creator loves reading the logs as well, “I’ve absolutely loved the response. Most cachers seem to really enjoy the experience and have written some wonderful logs. I wish I could thank each one in person for their thoughtful logs and favorite points… Also, look for my next cache “Tin Man” to be released in the end of June. It will be a 6 1/2 foot-tall ‘robot’ made out of 14 ammo cans. It will be very memorable.”The hat you have to wear is obvious with this geocache, what other “hats” have you had to wear while geocaching? Tree climber? Scuba diver? The Real Leaderboard

December 9, 2019

first_img Essential Reading! Get my 2nd book: The Lost Art of Closing “In The Lost Art of Closing, Anthony proves that the final commitment can actually be one of the easiest parts of the sales process—if you’ve set it up properly with other commitments that have to happen long before the close. The key is to lead customers through a series of necessary steps designed to prevent a purchase stall.” Buy Now Many sales organizations have a leaderboard. They rank their salespeople by revenue, new accounts, profit, or some combination thereof. Sometimes the idea is to acknowledge the leaders, and sometimes the idea is to shame some salespeople into improving their performance. But a deeper look at the leaders is often revealing. Sometimes the leaders aren’t really the best salespeople.Gimme’sThe leader may be the at the top of the stack because he has been given accounts. He may not have had to do the tough work of opening the relationship, establishing that relationship, or creating new opportunities. He is really just doing a really good job managing the accounts he inherited.Growing accounts that you are given is important, but it doesn’t necessarily make you the sales leader.Better HelpNo salespeople should be ashamed of needing help to win a deal. If they need their sales manager, Vice President of Sales, or CEO’s help to win a deal, it doesn’t discount the work that they did to position the opportunity. But some salespeople have better help. They have a sales manager who is deeply engaged in coaching, developing, and helping them create and win new opportunities. They have more–and better–help. The reason some salespeople who are lower in the rankings are lower is because they aren’t receiving the help they need.TimeTime is a critical factor, especially in a complex sale when the process takes time. Newer salespeople are ranked towards the bottom only because they haven’t yet had enough time to develop the relationships or the opportunities. The fact that someone is lower on the ranking isn’t always an indication that can’t sell, won’t sell, or aren’t succeeding. One Big DealSometimes the leader on the sales board is the beneficiary of one really big deal. There is nothing wrong with winning a really big deal, unless that’s all you do. The revenue and profit numbers matter, but there are other numbers that are also important–like their future pipeline.Holding up the leader with one big deal can be confusing. It can make other salespeople believe that “one really big deal” is a viable strategy to pursue when it isn’t.The number four salesperson with really good numbers and an excellent pipeline might be the real “leader,” and that fact will increasingly become known over time.QuestionsIs the leader on the leaderboard always the best and most effective salesperson?last_img read more

Varsha Bhosle suicide case: Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle to be questioned

November 28, 2019

first_imgEven as the last rites of Varsha Bhosle, daughter of playback singer Asha Bhosle, were performed on Tuesday, police remained clueless about the reasons behind her suicide.Police officers investigating the case said they would record statements of Asha, who might be able to reveal the reason behind her 56-year-old daughter’s suicide.A police official said they had recorded statements of Asha’s sister Usha Mangeshkar, maid Dipali Mane and driver Vijay. “Close family members have not been questioned yet since they are still in a state of shock,” the police official said. The officer said police would soon record the statements of Asha, her elder sister and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and Varsha’s former husband Hemant Kenkre. Police officials, however, said the Belgian pistol, with which Varsha allegedly killed herself, was registered in the name of Anand, Asha’s youngest son and it was kept safely in the house. On Monday, Varsha was found dead with two bullet injuries in her head. She was the second of the three children of Asha and Ganpatrao Bhosle and stayed mostly with her mother in the posh Prabhu Kunj building at Pedder Road in Mumbai.Police suspect that she committed suicide Sunday night, but also said that the neighbours did not hear any gunshot. Varsha’s viscera sample has been sent for test. Police sources said the woman’s post-mortem report confirmed she died of haemorrhagic shock due to bullet injuries.Three loaded cartridges were found in the pistol. Varsha, who used to work as a freelance journalist, was divorced from sports journalist Hemant Kenkre. She had also sung songs for some Hindi and Marathi films and performed in some concerts with her mother. She was depressed for many years and had tried to commit suicide in 2008 and 2010 by consuming sleeping pills. advertisementlast_img read more
