first_imgzoom d’Amico International Shipping, a pure product tankers player operating in MR1 and MR2 sectors, has, through its subsidiary d’Amico Tankers Limited (Ireland), signed a $73.2 million contract for the construction of two Handysize “Eco” vessels.These 50.000 dwt “ECO Design” tankers will allow fuel savings of 6/7 tons per day compared to the older designs. They will be able to transport 8/9 different products allowing an increased operating flexibility for d’Amico customers.The newbuildings will be constructed by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. Ltd. (Korea), through its affiliate in Vietnam, with the advisory of the d’Amico Group marine engineers and are expected to be delivered at the end of 2016.Marco Fiori, CEO of d’Amico International Shipping, said: “DIS’ newbuilding strategy is going to be a key point also in 2014.
