Ewoks Are Coming to Star Wars Battlefront II

first_img Despite all the drama surrounding it last year, people are still playing Star Wars: Battlefront II. This is due in large part to DICE reworking the game to make it more user-friendly. Now, Battlefront II will become decidedly cuter with the introduction of the adorable Ewoks. Yes, Ewoks. The teddy bear-like race is being introduced via a new mode called Ewok Hunt. Players can play as an Ewok defending their village or as an imperial trying to take over the place. Here is how EA describes the new mode (via Polygon):“The ambush begins as Ewoks attack unsuspecting stormtroopers, using spears, Wisties, and other skills to take down their opponents. Each stormtrooper defeated spawns as another Ewok, multiplying until the Empire’s forces have been completely eliminated, and the Ewok celebration can begin. However, the stormtroopers’ superior training and firepower are more than a match for the Ewoks. Armed with a cadre of weapons as well as flashlights to pierce the darkness, players must hold back the Ewok’s ambush if they have a hope of surviving until an extraction team can arrive.”Since when do stormtroopers defeated by Ewoks become Ewoks? That’s pretty disturbing if you really think about it. Adorably disturbing, but disturbing regardless. Also, the part about the stormtroopers’ “superior training and firepower” is amusing. These heavily armed and shielded soldiers got their butts handed to them by little teddy bears using sticks and stones in Return of the Jedi. If the Battlefront II Ewoks are anywhere near as badass as they are in RotJ, the imperials doesn’t stand a chance. In addition to Ewok Hunt mode, Battlefront II is getting new Endor-themed cosmetic items. This means you can make Han and Leia look like they did in the last half of Return of the Jedi. Players can buy these two skins either with in-game credits or crystals. Crystals can be purchased with real-world money… because the game can’t completely scrap microtransactions.Expect Ewok Hunt mode in Star Wars: Battlefront II on April 18.Let us know what you like about Geek by taking our survey.
