Candeias accused of being disrespectful

first_imgRangers Football Club winger Daniel Candeias has been accused of being disrespectful by St. Mirren goalkeeper Craig Samson. The Rangers winger was shown blowing kisses towards St Mirren fans during the team’s 2-0 defeat to Rangers on home soil, that caused a rift between Samson, Candeias and Saints defender, Anton Ferdinand.Referee Willie Collum showed the Portuguese midfielder a second yellow following an exchange with Ferdinand, a decision branded ’embarrassing’ by Rangers boss, Steven Gerrard. However, Samson shed some light on the events leading up to the dismissal when he suggested Candeias had shown a lack of respect towards a St. Mirren side sliding towards their seventh straight defeat.“When they scored the second goal he ran past and gave Anton (Ferdinand) a bit of stick, telling him to ‘shoosh’ and blowing him kisses,” said the 34-year-old keeper, according to Daily Mail.Rangers is still behind Celtic: John Hartson Manuel R. Medina – September 3, 2019 According to the former Celtic player, there’s still a massive gap between his ex-club and Rangers in the Scottish Premier League.“So when he ran past me I just sort of grabbed him and said: “Look, there’s no need to be so disrespectful … you’ve won the game so just go and celebrate with your team-mates.”“He agreed with me, and he apologised.”“But Anton wasn’t very happy with what was happening. I don’t know what happened between the two of them but I just thought Candeias was lacking a wee bit of class in doing what he was doing.”last_img
