Rep Howell announces MDOT grant for Lapeer road improvements

Gary Howell today announced a grant totaling $375,000 from the Michigan Department of Transportation to increase safety and improve road conditions for drivers on Davison Road in Lapeer.Howell said Lapeer will resurface more than one mile of Davison Road from east of the roundabout at Lake Nepessing Road to west of Millville Road. Work also includes new signs and drainage improvements.“Davison Road provides access to multiple commercial and industrial businesses,” said Howell.  “These necessary road improvements will extend the life of the roadway and increase safety for local drivers.”The overall cost of the project is $678,000. The city of Lapeer is providing $303,000 to the project.Overall, there have been nine grants announced throughout the state, ranging from $175,000 to $375,000, and totaling more than $3.1 million.The Transportation Economic Development Fund operates under the Michigan Department of Transportation and helps finance highway, road and street projects. 05Jan Rep.
