‘Jorginho can’t run, can’t defend & has no assists’

October 27, 2019

first_imgRio Ferdinand singled out Chelsea midfielder Jorginho for savage criticism after the Blues went down to Arsenal’s in Saturday’s Champions League six-pointer. Maurizio Sarri’s men could have extended their lead over the Gunners to nine points with victory at the Emirates Stadium. Instead, the current occupants of the all-important fourth Champions League spot saw their advantage cut to three as they went down 2-0 in a disappointing performance .  Article continues below Editors’ Picks ‘There is no creativity’ – Can Solskjaer get Man Utd scoring freely again? ‘Everyone legged it on to the pitch!’ – How Foden went from Man City superfan to future superstar Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring early on, before Laurent Koscielny hit the second with a deflected finish towards the end of half-time. Chelsea’s attacking deficiencies, meanwhile, were again exposed as they mustered a solitary shot on target at Bernd Leno over the 90 minutes. Blues fans will be hoping the imminent arrival of Gonzalo Higuain bolsters the side on that front – but Ferdinand believes their woes start further down the pitch. “Jorginho is someone who sets the tempo of the game. You get the ball to him through the middle third of the pitch, he’s very good,” he fired to BT Sport. “How many assists has he got this season? 4 Schools Named Possible Transfer Destinations For Alabama QB Jalen Hurts

(Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)Jalen Hurts remains a major part of Alabama’s football program, but with Nick Saban naming Tua Tagovailoa the team’s starting quarterback, there are now questions about Hurts’ future in Tuscaloosa, Ala.“I think everybody knows that Tua’s going to start this game, and we’re going to use Jalen’s skill set in the future to help however we feel that he can benefit the team,” Saban said on Monday.“And I just want to be clear with everyone that I have done this in the past where we don’t say who the starter’s going to be for the first game, and we give both quarterbacks an opportunity to play in the game, which is exactly what we did in this game. Not a whole lot different than what we’ve done in the past, aight. So, now we know and you know.”Hurts has helped Alabama make multiple national title games and has won the Crimson Tide a ton of games, but this appears to be Tua’s team now.Where does this leave Hurts?Redshirting the 2018 season, graduating this winter and then transferring elsewhere to play immediately in 2019 is now an option. One college football analyst has named four schools potential options.“Possible destinations for Jalen Hurts: Texas – Texas native and would thrive in that offense Auburn – great scheme fit and the ultimate anti-bama move Miami – Might be a QB away from the playoff Oklahoma – Will be replacing Murray and loves transfers.”Possible destinations for Jalen Hurts:Texas – Texas native and would thrive in that offenseAuburn – great scheme fit and the ultimate anti-bama moveMiami – Might be a QB away from the playoffOklahoma – Will be replacing Murray and loves transfers— Mello (@melloesquire) September 8, 2018Tim Tebow speculated on Friday that Auburn could be an option for Hurts, too.(Finebaum just deleted the Tweet in which Tim Tebow speculates recklessly about Jalen Hurts transferring to Auburn. Kirby Smart Shares Big News About ’19 Recruiting Class

The Mario Cristobal Quote About Auburn That’s Circulating Is Fake

(Photo by Marc Serota/Getty Images)Georgia freshman quarterback D’Wan Mathis got quite a scare earlier this year when he found out he needed to go under the knife to have a brain cyst removed. That surgery certainly appears to have put his football career on hold, which is totally understandable.Speaking to the media during SEC Media Days, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart revealed that the team isn’t ready to put a date on Mathis’ potential return. Smart said that he can’t speculate on when Mathis will be 100-percent but plans to be “very cautious.”Via DawgNation:“As far as putting a date on his exact return where he’s 100 percent,” Smart said. “I don’t know what that’s going to be.  I can’t even speculate right now with the surgery he had. We’re certainly going to be very cautious.”Overall though, the outlook for Mathis is very good. He noted that the freshman quarterback is already back in classes and working out. “D’Wan is doing very well. Ron (Courson) and his staff, I think it’s very well-documented how well Ron and his staff managed D’Wan and the things that they’ve done,” Smart said.“D’Wan is back in classes, he’s back in workouts, he’s doing a really good job for us.”Mathis may not be football ready, but he certainly looks to be in solid athletic condition. Iowa Native, Walk-On Kyler Schott Emerging As Crucial Player For Hawkeyes

October 26, 2019

first_img “It was unreal… It’s been a dream of mine to play football here. Finally, I got the opportunity to play some real time, not the three plays I got to play last year… It was really fun. … I knew I was ready to go.”Schott had no scholarship offers coming out of high school, and was only offered some financial assistance at a junior college. He joined Iowa as a walk on and played a handful of snaps last year. While the schools that ultimately declined to offer Schott may have been surprised by his performance, Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley was not. He told the media that he wasn’t surprised due to the way he works and trains.“Maybe it’s a surprise to the outside world… but I saw the way he works in the weight room and conditioning. The way he pays attention, the way he practices… I’m not surprised at all.”With Jackson now expected to miss at least a pair of games, Kyler Schott will have many more chances to make his mark.[The Gazette] A group of Iowa Hawkeyes football helmets.WEST LAFAYETTE, IN – NOVEMBER 03: General view of Iowa Hawkeyes helmets are seen during the game against the Purdue Boilermakers at Ross-Ade Stadium on November 3, 2018 in West Lafayette, Indiana. But it was an especially important game for one Iowa walk-on who came on as an injury replacement, Kyler Schott.Schott, an Iowa native who was basically unrecruited at any college level, came in for star offensive tackle Alaric Jackson after he went down with an injury. He proceeded to handle the Miami defenders with ease, keeping the pocket clean and helping the rushing attack thrive.Speaking to the media this week, Schott called it a dream to play for Iowa, and to have a big role at that.Via The Gazette:last_img read more

Mohamed Barry: “Nobody’s going to care about Colorado when we’re in the Big Ten Championship.” #Huskers— Parker Gabriel (@HuskerExtraPG) September 9, 2019Barry isn’t saying that no one should care about the loss to Colorado. It was a brutal loss and Huskers fans – and players – should be disappointed. The Nebraska linebacker is just making a larger point that everything they want to accomplish is still in play.If the Huskers do end up making the Big Ten Championship Game, the loss to Colorado will be much easier to swallow.Nebraska has a lot of work to do to make that happen, though. The Huskers will start on Saturday against Northern Illinois. Scott Frost’s team starts Big Ten play the week after.last_img read more
